Tailscale Integration

Filess supports Tailscale integration for Dedicated databases, allowing you to connect your database directly to your private Tailscale mesh network (tailnet).

Why use Tailscale?​

  • Zero Public Exposure: Your database does not need a public IP address or open port. It is completely invisible to the public internet.
  • Easy Access: Access the database from your laptop, production servers, or CI runners as if they were on the same local network, regardless of physical location.
  • Encrypted: All traffic is encrypted peer-to-peer using WireGuard®.

Setup​

  1. In the Filess Console, go to Network settings for your dedicated instance.
  2. Select Connect Tailscale.
  3. Generate an auth key from your Tailscale admin panel.
  4. Paste the key into Filess.
  5. Your database will appear as a device in your Tailnet (e.g., filess-db-prod).
